A Decade of Giving The Peninsula Community Foundation meets needs in the community by providing grant funding. Whether it's helping disabled people access important equipment, helping to fund programs for teens, contributing to a community theatre expansion or supporting the search and rescue society's efforts to buy a new boat - the Foundation exists to lend a helping hand. The Peninsula Community Foundation has contributed close to $1 million in grants.

The Peninsula Community Foundation provides grants to help cover capital costs, not operational costs. Registered charities providing programs and projects in the Semiahmoo Peninsula are encouraged to contact the Peninsula Community Foundation.

Applicant Funding Criteria

Information for applicants:

  1. All applicants requesting funding from the Peninsula Community Foundation will require to complete an application form, and such forms must be received by the Foundation by the advertised deadline.
  2. All funding requests must reflect either a specific capital request, or a training request, and the basis for the application must be outlined clearly for the Grant Funding Committee to review. It is wise to consider that the primary purposes of the Peninsula Community Foundation are to focus on the areas of health, education, arts, and cultural activities, and enhance the quality of life within the local community. The Foundation will NOT consider funding of ongoing operational expenses for any organization.
  3. First consideration for grant funding will be given to those applicants who are a registered Canadian charity with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
  4. Grant decisions will be based on the direct benefit demonstrated to the White Rock South Surrey community (specifically that area bounded on the north by 40th Avenue, on the east by 196th Street, on the south by the Canadian/US border, and on the west by Mud Bay).
  5. Grants will be awarded by the Peninsula Community Foundation twice yearly, (April & September), although each applicant may receive an award only once in a year.
  6. Grant recipients will be required to report to the Peninsula Community Foundation Board of Directors, the manner in which the funds were used to benefit the organization and community. This will be done in the form of a letter, within six months of receiving the grant funding. If applicants fail to submit a report, they will be ineligible for funding by the Peninsula Community Foundation.
  7. Grant funds are available to be requested by successful grant applicants for a period of up to one year from the notification letter of approval date. Any grant funds not claimed by successful applicants after a period of one year are deemed no longer available to the grant recipient.
  8. All grant funding will be designated at the sole discretion of the Peninsula Community Foundation Board of Directors, and completion of an application does not guarantee grant funding approval for any specific project or group.
